Santana
Santana es una banda estadounidense liderada por Carlos Santana cuyo estilo es una fusión entre el rock y los ritmos afrocubanos y latinos. Fue creada en 1966, y se hizo conocida en el festival de Woodstock de 1969.
Santana (llamada originamlente Santana Blues Band) nació en 1966 en San Francisco, California. A los 18 años, hicieron su aparición en Woodstock, lo que les lanzó a la fama. esto les permitió lanzar su primer álbum, llamado sencillamente Santana en 1969. En 1970 Abraxas, con el que obtuvo más de un millón de copias vendidas.
La banda comienza la decada de los 80 con varios discos que pretenden devolver algo de tirón comercial al grupo; buena prueba de ello son los álbumes Zebop! (1981), con el éxito "Winning", y Shango (1982), con el éxito "Hold On".
A finales de los 90, Santana abandona su sello habitual (con el que estaban descontentos) y se unen a "Arista". El disco resultante es Supernatural, en el que Santana contó con la cooperación de varios artistas invitados, como Maná (en el tema Corazón Espinado), Rob Thomas (Smooth) y Eric Clapton (The Calling), entre otros. Por ese trabajo, Santana obtuvo 9 Premios Grammy, 3 Grammy Latinos, vendió más de 25 millones de copias en todo el mundo y volvió a poner a la banda en el estrellato. Sus posteriores trabajos trataron de repetir la fórmula utilizada en "Supernatural": en Shaman, cuenta con las colaboraciones de Dido, Seal, Plácido Domingo, Michelle Branch; y en All that I am con Steven Tyler de Aerosmith y por segunda vez a Michelle Branch.
